Beau Lyday  Farmstead Studios

The quatrefoil is one of the must familiar motifs in Gothic Architecture ( Quad form the for four and foil meaning leaf). My sculpture is a barbed quatrefoil. The barbed refers the triangular shapes intercepting the four circles as thorns on a rose.
Examples of this motif have been seen in Byzantine times and interestingly the shape appears in Central and South American as early as 700 BCE.
The base crossectionally is a quatrefoil shape also.
Quatrefoil was selected for the 2014 Arts Field Competition. It was purchased by Darla Moore and is located at the Moore Botanical Gardens in Lake City ,SC
