A quote from my favorite book "Back to Basics" has been
the inspiration for my furniture-
"the pride of accomplishment, pleasure in artistic creativity
and gratification in work done by hand."
We live in an 1800's farmhouse in North Carolina. It was built by hand and has withstood the test of time. The floor boards were hand planed then notched to match each floor beam one at a time. The patience and craftsmanship is remarkable and is an inspiration to me. I let this spirit guide me in my work.
With every piece I make I take my time and think it through. I ponder over each piece of wood, figuring how best to cut it for its beauty and character. Using old-time skills I build my pieces to be long lasting, functional and pleasing. I do custom work also, just give me a call if you need something special
If you desire hand cut dovetails, mortise and tendon joinery, barn wood primitives or colonial milk paint period pieces please take a look. Enjoy!
